versailles goes kitsch

"to be here in Versailles, it feels so profound, it feels so right," Koons said.

massive balloon dogs, a huge inflatable lobster, and a giant valentine heart are on exhibition in Versailles showcasing the work of jeff koons. 17 pieces on loan from private collectors fill the Chateau De Versailles for three months.

some are totally against this show, as they feel it defaces the legacy of louis XIV. In defence, chateau's director, Jean-Jacques Aillagon argues Versailles as a "laboratory for tastes... not something frozen in formaldehyde."
